God's Promise

James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
James 1:18

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
I touched upon verse 17 here, so I won't repeat it.
Verse 18 is stating that it is God's will that all mankind be saved with the Word of Truth, which is Jesus Christ. God sent His Son, Jesus, to fulfil what was needed to save mankind from eternal damnation. It is His desire that ALL MEN be saved. He provided the Way for us and it is up to us to accept or reject his Precious Gift. If you are thinking that you are a terrible person and God couldn't possibly forgive you for what you've done, you are being deceived by the devil. God is a merciful God and will forgive you if you are asking Him from a truly repentant heart. I cannot explain how He does it, but when you come to Him just as you are, He is faithful and just in His Word. He will take your heart and change it, giving you new desires and filling you with His Love. If you are tired of how your life is going and doing things you know you shouldn't be doing, Jesus Christ can break those bonds. I have seen with my own eyes alcoholics and drug addicts changed. One man goes to our church. Five years ago, he came to church with his wife and during the prayer requests being given, this man stood up crying and said, "I'm an alcoholic and I need you to pray for me". He came and knelt at the altar, giving his life to Jesus. He never took another drink and within a couple of years he quit smoking. He has been a faithful and diligent Christian ever since.
God wants you! He loves you! He loves you so much that while you were yet in sin, He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for you, so that you could be freed from sin and have eternal life. Our time here on Earth is very short and eternity has no time or end. Won't you please consider receiving the greatest Gift that you've ever been given? Maybe you're not even sure there is a God, but wouldn't you rather be safe than sorry?! Please don't wait, for you never know if you'll even have the next second. Give God a chance. You won't be sorry you did.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:18

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

1 Tim 2:4
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Rev 22:17
And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Deby,
There's nothing like Salvation! :-) You may be surprised one day when you find out how many people were brave enough, because of you, to admit they really weren't saved and got their souls right with God. Praise God for your admission!
