Temptation
Jas 1:12
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Jas 1:13
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
Jas 1:14
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Jas 1:15
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Jas 1:16
Do not err, my beloved brethren.
We see in the above Scriptures that God cannot be tempted with evil, nor does he tempt anyone with it. Evil temptations come from evil, not good.
Mark 7:20-23 states:
Mr 7:20
And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
Mr 7:21
For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
Mr 7:22
Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
Mr 7:23
All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
First, we are tempted when we are drawn away of our own lust and enticed. Our enemy, satan, knows our past and knows our weak areas. We are tempted by him, not God.
At the first sign of temptation, we should go straight to God for help. He is waiting for us to ask Him for help. God knows us, too, and waits to see what we are going to do during this trial of temptation. The Scriptures tell us that He has made a way out for us if we'll only use it.
1 Cor 10:1
Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
1Cor 10:2
And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
1Cor 10:3
And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
1Cor 10:4
And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
1Cor 10:5
But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
1Cor 10:6
Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
1Cor 10:7
Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
1Cor 10:8
Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
1Cor 10:9
Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
1Cor 10:10
Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
1Cor 10:11
Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
1Cor 10:12
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
1Cor 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Remember that God will not allow you to be tempted more than what you are able. God knows better than us how much we can take. Isn't this wonderful?! He will make a way for us to escape the temptation and able to bear it until we do escape.
