Titus 2 Woman

Today I thought I would touch upon the Scriptures of Titus 2:3-5.
The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
When I came upon this Scripture a while back it suddenly dawned on me that I was now an aged woman! As I thought upon this I realized my responsibility, because I certainly do not want to blaspheme God's Word!
We all know that there are some men and women that enjoy talking (a lot) and there are some that enjoy talking (at times). I'm an at times person. Regardless, we are not to falsely accuse anyone of anything. If someone were to tell you something another person has done, how do you know it is a fact? Were you there? Did the person tell you themselves? Guess what? There is another Scripture regarding this very subject which plainly speaks for itself.
1 Timothy 5:13 And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
I have been guilty of this and regret having to admit it, but knowing the truth I have to repent and try not to repeat this sin. I'm sure there's not a person on this Earth that hasn't done this very thing.
It says also, not given to much wine. The way I look at this is that it is okay if you drink wine in moderation, BUT, I feel that this is a dangerous area for a Christian and therefore should withhold it so as not to cause someone else to stumble. Again, there are Scriptures regarding this area.
1 Timothy 5:23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.
Romans 14:21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.
We are to be teachers of good things to the younger women which has been listed. Let's take a look at each one.
1. To be sober: not drunken, not wild or heated with passion, but be a calm, temperate person.
2. To love their husbands: we are to have benevolence or good will toward our husbands. We were created to be their helpmeet, to aid or assist him.
3. To love their children: loving our children seems to come naturally, but there is more than the emotional. There is the training up a child in the way he should go. Too many children are raising themselves and that is causing much anger and feelings of resentment toward parents. This can be a whole article in itself. I may do this one another day.
4. To be discreet: prudent; wise in avoiding errors or evil. Selecting the best means to accomplish a purpose; cautious; wary; not rash.
5. To be chaste: to the single woman it means to be sexually pure. To the married woman it means to be true to the marriage bed. Also to be free from obscenity an to be pure in language, free from barbarous words and phrases and extravagant expressions.
6. To be keepers at home: what else could this mean but what it says?
7. To be good: having moral qualities which God's law requires; virtuous; pious.
8. To be obedient to their own husbands: Oh boy! Ladies, we have a problem with this one don't we? Remember, we do not want to blaspheme God's Word! This speaks for itself. I'll do an article on this one sometime, too.
I must say I haven't seen too many older women that fits this category. It's sad. I would love to see the hearts of young women turned back to their homes, husbands, and children. We've become a selfish bunch, wanting our independence to do what we want instead of doing what God made us for; a helpmeet to the husband, guiding the house and training the children. It's a very important job!
Ladies, let's really try not to look at what this world is doing, but look closely at what God wants of us and please Him.
